Ruby Creek Project - Klohn Crippen Berger Projects

Ruby Creek Project

Client:Adanac Molybdenum Corp
Location:Atlin, British Columbia
Project Highlights:Socio-economic/environmental baseline – Environmental/social impact assessment

Our client plans to develop a molybdenum mine in northern British Columbia and hired Klohn Crippen Berger to help minimize the mine's effect on the local environment and communities.

After studying the fish, wildlife, water, air and soil in the project area, we recommended strategies for Adanac to protect the local environment, such as relocating a small population of fish to a nearby lake and diverting streams around the proposed mine tailings impoundment. We also helped Adanac submit an application for a BC Environmental Assessment Certificate.

Working with Adanac, we engaged local residents in a dialogue about the mine's place in their community. Our findings are generally positive and indicate the mine should provide long-term employment and contribute to the sustainability of the local economy.

The environmental assessment report is being reviewed by the provincial government.
