Nunasi Corporation is a birthright development corporation wholly-owned by its shareholders which are all Inuit enrolled as beneficiaries under the Nunavut Land Claim Agreement. Nunasi's mandate is to create value added benefits such as training, employment and other economic opportunities for the Inuit of Nunavut. The corporation was formed in 1976 by the Inuit Tapirisat Kanatami so that, even before the land claims were settled, the people of Nunavut could begin to take their place in the Canadian business world.
