Project Highlights: Geotechnical/Environmental Investigation and Contaminated Soil Management
Klohn Crippen provided geotechnical and environmental consulting and field monitoring services to Weyerhaeuser for the animal bedding project in Kamloops, BC. The geotechnical investigation
utilized solid stem augering, cone penetration tests, seismic cone penetration tests and lab testing of soil samples. Previously documented Bunker C soil contamination was observed by soil
sampling in conjunction with the geotechnical investigation. Contaminated soil management during construction involved the segregation, stockpiling and sampling of material. Stockpiled soil
management options involved use as landfill cover material. Geotechnical and environmental
observations were conducted during foundation construction.
