The Browns Range Project is situated approximately 150 km southeast of Halls Creek, Western Australia, in the Tanami Desert. The Heavy Rare Earth Element (HREE) deposits are located along the western portion of the Browns Range Dome, and have resulted from hydrothermal xenotime mineralisation.
Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd (KCB) was commissioned to carry out the following stages of hydrogeological investigation for this project:
- A hydrogeological scoping assessment of the project was completed including a desktop assessment of client specific and publically available information to develop a preliminary groundwater supply and dewatering assessment. An initial cost estimate for the infrastructure required was also provided to assist with mine planning.
- A non-intrusive investigation was completed using surface geophysics (Electrical Resistivity and Magnetic survey) to verify interpreted structures, identify potential fracture zones and to determine suitable bore locations for the subsequent phase of investigation. This information was also used to develop the baseline characterisation plan/program for the site.
- Northern Minerals Ltd has also commissioned KCB to undertake the Baseline Characterisation program and dewatering assessment.
