Sullivan Mine Emergency Storage Pond

Kimberley, BC, Canada

Teck commissioned an update of the surface water management plan for the closed Sullivan Mine site, focusing on the water management of the emergency storage pond and the potential benefit of constructing an upstream interceptor ditch to reduce inflows to the pond. Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) conducted hydrologic modelling to estimate pond inflows and pond performance for a range of individual design events as well as for a long-term (93-year) simulation of historical climate conditions. KCB also prepared conceptual designs and quantity estimates for interceptor ditch options.
