We use the latest technology to provide innovative solutions to a variety of seismic design problems. Our experience includes dynamic stability analyses and deformation analyses for major water storage dams using finite-element computer modelling. To select ground motion parameters for stability analysis, we include review of tectonic setting, analysis of historical seismicity and development of parameters for maximum credible earthquakes (MCE) and operating basis earthquakes (OBE).
KCB’s ability to perform seismic assessments has been demonstrated on many projects including the design of the Ok Menga hydroelectric development in the seismically active mountains of Papua New Guinea, as well as numerous other dam, mining and geotechnical projects. We have carried out studies for dam stability in Chile, Peru, St. Lucia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Thailand, China and Sri Lanka.
