Our culture is founded on people who care about the meaning of their work. Whether inspecting a hydropower dam in Colombia, monitoring the construction of a tailings dam in northern Alberta or completing an environmental survey for an industrial site in Peru – our engineers and scientists apply their technical skills and experience to solve clients’ problems.
We’ve learned from over decades of practical experience that there’s no better way to serve our clients and employees than by doing things right.
Doing things right means managing our business and projects in a consistent, professional and ethical manner. We work using an Integrated Management System (IMS) which meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard for quality, the ISO 14001 standard for environment and the ISO 45001 standard for occupational health and safety.
Health and Safety
We instill confidence in our employees to always work with safety and health in mind. We want our people to be a safety leader both at work and at home.
We recognize that our employees and visitors have the right to work in a safe and healthy workplace, including their physical, psychological and social well-being. We consult and collaborate with our employees, and train and coach our supervisors, to promote a strong safe and healthy culture by identifying hazards and planning for hazard mitigation. Wherever we work, our goal is to always work safely and prevent harm.
Code of Conduct and Ethics
We conduct our business ethically, with integrity and honesty, and reinforce this expectation of our employees and of our supply chain.
We encourage employees and other stakeholders to report issues about our business conduct and ethics on the confidential and anonymous reporting website IntegrityCounts.

We recognize the environmental impacts of our business and those of our industries: the mining, hydropower, infrastructure, transportation and energy sectors. By far, our biggest impact comes from advising our clients on ways to eliminate, mitigate or remediate the environmental impacts of their operations or facilities. We do this by incorporating sustainability into our engineering designs and scientific work.
At home, in our offices and laboratories, we track the amount of materials we use for our consulting practice, and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from business air travel.
The concept of environmental stewardship offers KCB an opportunity to showcase our project-related successes and showcase our skills as environmental stewards.
It also provides us a chance to rise to the occasion and accept the challenge regarding our internal operations. Our goal is to use this forum to try to coordinate our efforts worldwide by exchanging ideas and sharing best practices. There are several ways to contribute to positive change in our offices. You can sit on an environmental committee, volunteer as an environmental champion or simply utilize all the resources that are in place in the office.
