Bob Chambers Named Vice President, Technical

May 4, 2022

Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Chambers, P.Eng., as its new Vice President, Technical. Bob assumes the role from Alex Sy, P.Eng., who announced his retirement earlier this year. Bob joined Klohn Crippen Berger in 1986 and has served as Regional Manager and Vice President of the company’s Mining Environmental Group. In his new role, Bob will lead the company's technical and business risk management processes.

Bob brings over 30 years’ experience in site assessment, design, and environmental aspects of tailings, mine rock and water management for mining and water resource projects. His extensive experience includes water retention, tailings dams and impoundments, mine waste dumps, hydrogeology, mine geochemistry, environmental assessments, closure plans, and subsurface investigations.

He has worked on projects throughout Canada, as well as in the U.S., Mexico, Perú, Chile, Ireland, Slovakia, and Southeast Asia. He has been involved in key projects including the Gibraltar and Myra Falls mines in B.C., the Greens Creek Mine in Alaska, the Escondida Mine in Chile, and the Tampakan copper-gold project in the Philippines.

“Bob brings extensive executive management perspective to the VP Technical role, having successfully led the mining and environmental group business unit for the better part of 8 years. He thoroughly understands the responsibilities that come with running an operating Business Unit and so is best positioned to maximize the impact the VP Technical position can have supporting the operational groups. Bob is detailed-oriented and has long been the company’s global champion when it comes to safety and quality. He has all the attributes and skills necessary to successfully fulfill this mandate. I am looking forward to the new energy, perspective, and ideas that Bob will bring to the position as we continue to grow,” said Ryan Douglas, KCB President.
