KCB to undertake the preliminary design for the rehabilitation of Harvie Passage

June 30, 2015

Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) has been retained by Alberta Transportation as the prime consultant for the rehabilitation of Harvie Passage. In this capacity, KCB will be responsible for project management, design and construction. The goal of the project is to reinstate the project’s pre-flood functional intent.

Klohn Crippen Berger was the prime consultant for the development of Harvie Passage from 2006 to its grand opening in May 2012. The primary purpose of the project was to eliminate the extreme drowning hazard, enable river passage for non-motorized boats and allow for fish passage enhancements. That year, the project won the Consulting Engineers of Alberta Award of Excellence for Water Resource & Energy Production and another for Community Development.

The citizens of Calgary had very little time to enjoy the results of the project before the devastating floods of 2013. KCB is honoured to be part of the project team to bring Harvie Passage back to Calgarians.
