Klohn Crippen Berger Achieves Platinum Status with Canada’s Best Managed Companies

March 10, 2015

bm-2014_LinkedIN_Platinum_ENToronto, ON – March 10, 2015 – Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) achieved Platinum status with Canada's Best Managed Companies program by retaining its Best Managed designation for six consecutive years or more.

“I want to congratulate Klohn Crippen Berger on becoming a Platinum Club member. This designation exemplifies consistency, commitment and the ability to be flexible in a changing marketplace. These qualities are what makes Klohn Crippen Berger such a great business success story and one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies,” said Peter Brown, National Co-Leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program and Senior Practice Partner, Deloitte.

“We first applied to the Program in 2004 and were unsuccessful. This only prompted us to take a deeper look at how we run our business and set some goals. When we applied again in 2008, we had established a stronger system of corporate governance,” commented Bryan Watts, Chairman, Klohn Crippen Berger. “Interestingly, 2008 was an incredibly challenging economic time, a time when the industries we serviced faced significant layoffs. KCB was a rare success story, showing continued growth through the recession. We feel that our commitment to solid business practices was the key to our success then and continues to be today. The Best Managed Program is part of that.”

Established in 1993, Canada’s Best Managed Companies is one of the country’s leading business awards programs that recognizes Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways. Applicants are evaluated by an independent judging panel on how they address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems, and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.

“KCB’s culture is built on a foundation of discovery, learning and evolution. Our teams of skilled engineers and scientists embrace the opportunity to work with our clients to address the unique needs of each project. Talented business professionals who so effectively manage our finances, technology, people and communications support these teams and together we have built this company for more than 60 years,” said Len Murray, President and CEO, Klohn Crippen Berger. “The process of requalification allows us the opportunity to take a 360° view of our business. Maintaining our standing as member of Canada’s Best Managed Program has made us a stronger organization and is a point of pride for our staff.”

“Companies that earn Platinum Club status in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program are true leaders in the Canadian marketplace,” said Jon Hountalas, Executive Vice-President, Business Banking, CIBC. “They exemplify strong vision and leadership, a sustained commitment to growth and innovation, and ongoing dedication to their corporate values.”

2014 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award, along with the Gold Standard winners, requalified and new Platinum members will be honoured at the annual Canada’s Best Managed Companies gala in Toronto on March 31, 2015.
