Klohn Crippen Berger’s Air Travel in 2020 Will Be Carbon Neutral

February 6, 2020

Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) is pleased to announce that its air travel in 2020 will be carbon neutral. KCB is offsetting its carbon emissions with projects that cut carbon and improve lives. As part of KCB’s approach to take responsibility for its impact on the environment, it has partnered with climate and sustainable development experts ClimateCare and Carbon Neutral to offset carbon emissions associated with air travel.

Emissions will be offset through a portfolio of projects, including ClimateCare’s award-winning Aqua Clara water purification project. This project helps people in rural Kenya gain access to safe water without boiling it by making affordable household water filters. The project team work closely with communities to ensure filters keep customers safe for the long-term. They do this through training users to check and maintain filters and by educating people on the importance of washing their hands, fruits and vegetables in safe water.

"We are delighted to work with experts in this sector, ClimateCare. They have over 20 years' experience running some of the most innovative and largest voluntary carbon offset programmes in the world. Working with them has allowed us to take full responsibility for our carbon footprint and integrate action to tackle climate change and improve people’s lives," said Len Murray, KCB President & CEO.

ClimateCare’s Director of Partnerships, Robert Stevens explains, "we work with forward-thinking organisations to turn their climate responsibilities into positive outcomes. Our trademark Climate+Care approach helps organisations take a smart approach to addressing their environmental impacts by offsetting their carbon emissions through projects which also support sustainable development".

KCB has also partnered with Carbon Neutral to offset carbon emissions through deforestation prevention projects, which are important because forests act as significant carbon sinks. Len Murray mentioned that "Carbon offset provider Carbon Neutral caught our attention because they offer projects for preventing deforestation in areas where we work, including PNG, Peru and Brazil".

Ray Wilson, Carbon Neutral’s CEO, says that “taking action, rather than waiting for policymakers, explains the growing demand for carbon offsetting by businesses. KCB is showing leadership by compensating for their unavoidable emissions by investing in carbon offset projects to achieve zero carbon emissions".
