Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) carried out the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and engineering designs for the mine rock dumps and tailings storage for this proposed open pit gold/copper mine. The project involved storage of mine rock and tailings in Duncan Lake, which included a 90 m-high rockfill dam.
The project went to a full Comprehensive Environmental Assessment with a joint federal and provincial regulatory process. The project also proceeded with a Joint Panel Review, which included numerous public hearings.
KCB completed the feasibility study and EIA for storage, operation, and closure of the mine waste facilities that includes sub-aqueous disposal. The services included ARD/ML assessment of 800 Mt of mine rock and development of site-specific water quality objectives.
