Mining

Our reputation for mining services comes from collaborating with mining companies over several decades, in designing safe and sustainable mine waste and water management facilities.

Our mining services include scoping and feasibility studies, facility design, construction monitoring, operations and closure planning, with a focus on assessing and mitigating project risks at every step.

We revolutionized the engineering of modern tailings storage facilities 50 years ago and we’ve continued to push innovation every day since. Through our involvement in industry associations, sponsoring university research and helping to develop international standards for tailings dams, we are doing our part to improve the level of safety and sustainability in the mining industry.

Leaders in Tailings Management and Dam Safety

Around the world, Klohn Crippen Berger lends our expertise to the practices of dam safety and tailings management. Our technical professionals are regularly called upon to review tailings practices for the industry and participate in investigations of dam failure incidents which have included in recent years Mount Polley dam in Canada and the Fundão Tailings dam in Brazil.

Klohn Crippen Berger contributed to the development and subsequent release of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) by the Global Tailings Review. As proponents of the GISTM, we work with clients to ensure projects meet the standards.
