Andrew is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with over 18 years of consulting experience in geotechnical and water resources engineering on a variety of mining, infrastructure, municipal, and industrial related projects. Andrew’s chief area of practice is the design, construction, safe operation and closure of earthfill and rockfill embankment dams within Canada and around the world; specifically, he is currently the lead engineer for several major cyclone sand tailings dams in British Columbia. Andrew also holds various design and review roles for numerous other proposed, operating, and closed tailings dams, all with their own unique challenges.

Key Projects

His key projects include the operating Copper Mountain Mine, Gibraltar Mine, and Highland Valley Copper Mine and closed Equity Silver Mine in British Columbia.

Education

Andrew has a B.A.Sc. and M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia.

Fun Fact

Andrew grew up on a cattle ranch in northern British Columbia where, to the chagrin of his father, he developed his early dam building skills by blocking small creeks in the back pastures.
