David joined KCB in 2007 as Principal and Manager of the Water Resources Infrastructure group in the Calgary office, following KCB’s acquisition of his consulting engineering firm, Mack, Slack & Associates. David took on his current role as KCB’s Vice President, Alberta in 2019.

David’s experience is in the civil, hydraulic and structural designs of major water infrastructure projects, including dams and irrigation canal systems. His experience includes concept development, detailed design, tendering, and technical support during construction. He has also completed numerous dam safety reviews, dam safety inspections, and failure modes and effects analyses, and has served on independent technical review boards for several dam and appurtenant structures projects.

Key Projects

David’s key projects include major infrastructure improvements to the Glenmore, St. Mary, McGregor, Little Bow, Travers, and Forty Mile Coulee Dams. His project experience also includes a myriad of irrigation rehabilitation projects including for the Carseland – Bow River Headworks, St. Mary River Irrigation District Main Canal, Eastern Irrigation District North Canal and Western Headworks Main Canal Systems.

Education

David has a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from McGill University and is a registered professional engineer in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Fun Fact

Since arriving in Canada from the West Indies, David has traded in his cricket bat for a hockey stick, and later, a set of golf clubs. His quest to mark an “ACE” on his scorecard continues.
